GermanyBad Langensalza is a small town, about 30 to 35 km in the Northwest of the Thuringian capital Erfurt.
You reach it with the "Hopperticket" (current price 7 EUR).
The journey by "Erfurter Bahn" (Erfurt-Nord, Gispersleben, Kühnhausen etc.) takes about 50 minutes. The travel time on the "Regional Express" of "Deutsche Bahn" (route via Gotha) takes about 30 minutes.
The trails are both outside the station and in the city itself very well signposted. There are signs in several places in all directions.
The Tourist Information Office is open on Sundays happily (even up to 16:00h !) Competent employees are available and provide friendly and comprehensive information.
We came this time to have a look on the parks and gardens.
The gardens are small but nice.
Some of the gardens cost entry (3 EUR), others are free.
There is a combined ticket, which costs EUR 6. But only 4 require an entrance fee (Japanese garden, rose garden, botanical garden, Arboretum).
To see there are:
1 - Public parks: boulevard
2 - Castle Park: Park the Duchess
3 - Rose Garden: Garden of Love
4 - Japanese Garden: Garden of Happiness
5 - Natural Garden: Garden of the BUND
6 - TRACO Park: Garden of travertine
7 - Botanical Garden: Garden of Diversity
8 - Arboretum: Garden of Trees
9 - Magnolia Garden: Garden of transition
10 - Urban Community Garden
I think that for the visit one afternoon is sufficient. However, you should also visit the historic old town, which is now wonderfully restored (a city wall tour is possible). Then calculate a whole day.
In Bad Langensalza there are many restaurants and small shops.
If you want to stay longer: At several points apartments are offered.
One (Residenz am Kurpark) is actually located right next to the garden district.
More holiday lodgings are shown on the homepage of the city.
Naturally Bad Langensalza and the surrounding area has more to offer. Special considerations should be in my view:
* The Frederica Spa (located directly to the "Gartenmeile", is immediately adjacent to the Botanical Gardens)
* The Hainich National Park with the Tree Top Trail
