FranceThe train station of Chamonix (Gare de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc) is located at the TER route from St-Gervais-les-Bains to Vallorcine. In Vallorcine you can change the train to Martigny in Switzerland. Only regional/local trains are running on this route. The section between Martigny and Vallorcine is operated by the Swiss private railway company TMR and not included in the InterRail Pass.
But TMR grants for this section a discount of 50% on the standard fare. The entire route from St-Gervais-les-Bains to Martigny is also known as the Mont-Blanc Express.
In the station of Chamonix there is a travel centre of the SNCF (open 7-20 h), a car rental and restrooms. In the lobby (open 6-21:30 h), there is a waiting area, snack & beverage vending machines and a great exhibition about the history of the Mont-Blanc Express.
