The Frecciargento (FA AV) high speed trains are tilting trains operating from Rome to all parts of Italy at speeds of up to 280 km/h. Thanks to their tilting mechanism they can operate at higher speeds than regular trains on the conventional railway lines. Services include direct trains from Rome to Genoa, Venice, Bari and Bergamo.
Two different types of trains are used on Frecciargento services, called ETR 485 and ETR 600. All trains have air-condition, power sockets at each seat and WiFi. A bistro car is available as well, offering a varied menu of cold and hot drinks, snacks and dishes. All trains have dedicated areas for the disabled. Bicycles can be transported if placed in a bike case. Frecciargento trains offer seats in two comfort levels, 1st and 2nd class:
- 1st class: Reclinable leather seats, 3 seats per row (2+1 seats), arranged in rows as well as facing each other. Welcome drinks, snacks and newspapers included.
- 2nd class: Reclinable seats, 4 seats per row (2+2 seats), arranged mostly facing each other but also in rows.

Buy your train reservation at a railway station. These are usually available at stations in all countries where a particular train runs through. In many countries, especially in central and eastern Europe you can also buy reservations for trains in other countries. In some countries (for instance in the Netherlands or Spain) you have to pay a service fee at the ticket counter.
