Intercity Direct services connect Amsterdam with Rotterdam and Breda via the HSL Zuid high speed line which is also used by international Thalys trains. Intercity Direct services consist of refurbished Intercity carriages with 2nd and 1st class seats. A supplement is payable when travelling on the HSL Zuid (eg the line from Schiphol to Rotterdam) and depends on the distance travelled. The supplement is not payable when having an international ticket.

Buy your train reservation at a railway station. These are usually available at stations in all countries where a particular train runs through. In many countries, especially in central and eastern Europe you can also buy reservations for trains in other countries. In some countries (for instance in the Netherlands or Spain) you have to pay a service fee at the ticket counter.
