Regionale trains operated by Trenitalia are stopping trains running in all parts of Italy. They usually stop at all stations, and provide connections between small villages and towns to large cities.
A wide variety of train types is in use for Regionale trains, ranging from double-deck trains in the vicinity of large cities and conurbations to smaller railcars on secondary lines. All trains convey 2nd class seats, while usually only some long-distance services between large cities also have 1st class seats. Most services are air-conditioned and many trains have low-floor entry and facilites for the disabled. Bicycles can be conveyed on most services. Bikes in bags and folding bikes are carried free of charge. For other bikes a day ticket is 3,50€, alternatively you can also buy a 2nd class ticket for the distance travelled.
Buy your train reservation at a railway station. These are usually available at stations in all countries where a particular train runs through. In many countries, especially in central and eastern Europe you can also buy reservations for trains in other countries. In some countries (for instance in the Netherlands or Spain) you have to pay a service fee at the ticket counter.
