SpainAlbergue Martindozenea
At the end of my 3 1/2 weeks InterRail trip I stayed at the Albergue Martindozenea because I had to travel the next day from Hendaye to Würzburg. The Albergue Martindozenea is a classic hostel (with youth hostel membership card to get discount). The hostel is very popular for pilgrims - to Irun railway station it is about 10 minutes. The Euskotren station is just a few meters away from the hostel. Without membership of a youth hostel association, you pay 26 EUR per night - which I personally found for Irun quite expensive. The staff is nice and helpful - the rooms were clean. Negative I found that the reception is closed at lunchtime/early afternoon and after 22:00h. This means: you can not check-in at these times, but check-out is possible. The breakfast was very simple. There were soft bread out of the bag with jam. Irun itself is not a beautiful city - there is a larger square with pubs. I was here only to stay overnight. If you want to see the area, I recommend an overnight stay in San Sebastian or Biarritz.
