Sightseeing in Izmit

Maşukiye, a small town of Izmit, Kocaeli, is located between Lake Sapanca and Kartepe district. On summer time, waterskiing is available on Lake Sapanca while on winter time Kartepe, 30-40 km east of Izmit, Kartepe serves as a great place for kaiak and snowboarding with its various hotels ( 1606 m. altitude). The place is on the 120 km east of Istanbul and takes an hour by bus, 37 km east of Kocaeli ( İzmit). Cengiz Topel Airport (mainly for domestic flights) is located on the northern side of the place.
