The Karlsruhe Tourist Information (opposite Central Station) offers the opportunity to rent an electronic city guide. "i- tour" is the name and is an electronic device, which works like a smartphone. With it you can experience an audio-visual tour of the city.

You can rent the unit for three hours. This costs EUR 7.50. The connection of a second headphone is possible. For this, you pay again 2.00 EUR or 2.50 EUR (I'm not quite sure). If you want the device longer than the basic term of three hours use, then you pay per hour (~ EUR 1).

Our conclusion:
If you don't want to run run run all the time, but have for example somewhere a break for lunch or something to drink, I recommend to rent it for a longer time than the three hours they recommend.
