The statue stands on a 75 m high base. It is located 113 meters above the River Tagus. The statue itself is 28 meters high and depicts Christ with open arms because that directs to the 25 de Abril Bridge and the city of Lisbon.
The location of the statue is also one of the best view points of Lisbon.
You can also use an elevator to the platform of the statue. Costs EUR 4 (May 2011). From the lift is a very narrow staircase up to the observation deck. I wouldn't use it again. The view from the square in front of the statue is also fine. However, if you don't have problems with narrow stairs, go to the top.
