LuxembourgThe Gëlle Fra (english: "Golden Lady") is a memorial to the Place de la Constitution in Luxembourg. It is based on a cube-shaped base, and a 21-meter-high stone obelisk. At the top is the figure of a golden woman who holds a laurel wreath with raised hands.
The monument stands for Luxembourgers who died in World War I during their service for the Belgian or French army. It is a reminder of peace and victory, and remembers the war heroes.
The monument is a popular meeting place in the city: here is a parking lot and also coaches often stop here. All around there is a beautiful view down the valley and to the various churches and bridges of the city.
