United KingdomIf you are visiting Manchester then you probably heard of its amazing night life. Tv21 is located in the "Northern Quarter" a part of Manchester city centre where a lot of great bars, restaurants, clubs and cafes can be found.
Tv21 is a music and film themed bar, with a lot of posters and references all around the insides of the classics like "Pulp Fiction", "The Godfather", "Scarface" or "The Dark Knight". There is an old school fish-themed Pinball machine at £1/2 credits but don't be fooled thinking you can score 10 million on Windows pinball game and do the same there! I made that mistake and wasted too much money trying to get a higher score :)
If you love music as much as i do, you will also appreciate the choice of bands and artists that is played there, from 60's Beatles, through Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, The Prodigy, to Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Stripes and the Manchester or England based bands such as Happy Mondays, Oasis, Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys. At times live performances can be seen of acoustic artists as well as bands or Jazz players.
On Friday and Saturday nights, DJ Stoney (Tony) is on from 10 pm till the bar shuts at 3 am. There is a main bar area straight away when you walk in with stairs going down to toilets and The Basement Bar, hidden and only open from 10/11 pm on Friday and Saturday, where Tony plays the previously mentioned classics. Secret Basement Bar is mainly a dance floor with sofas on the sides to put your coats.
If you are visiting on a weekday, you can enjoy the Mexican food served from 12 or 1 pm, I recommend trying their Nachos, they are about £6/7 but serve 3 at least. Drink prices are on their website and so is a menu. I think they also have an iPhone App so you can look it up :)
In the past 4 months, i have been there over 20 times, spending way too much money but there is something about the place that make you feel home and want to come back. I would definitely suggest stopping there for a drink or to grab a lunch when visiting Manchester. If you are staying overnight and want to be close to the Northern Quarter and centre in general, I myself have stayed in a hostel just outside Manchester Victoria Train Station, Ashton House Hostel. It might not be the best however it provides with a good warm bed, few minutes from the bars and clubs. With no Curfew and at about £20/p/n you can easily get back for few hours sleep, and with a hangover next day keep on interrailing through the UK :)
