The Calanques in the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône are small, fjord-like bays with very clear water where you can swim very well.
The Calanque d'En Vau is located on Marseille metropolitan area, but is quickly accessible from Cassis. From the city center it takes about 1.5 hours. The Calanque d'En Vau considered the most beautiful Calanque, but it is also somewhat difficult to access (no fear of heights). You should always wear good shoes and think of plenty of food and sun protection.
Note: In July and August, the trails in the Calanques are closed due to the high fire danger!
