Mount Vesuvius

Vesuvio

Neither cableway still cog railway yet exist. From Torre del Greco, a road leads to a parking at 1,080 m altitude. Then it is still 200 vertical meters (!) to do on foot.

Galleria Umberto I

The Galleria Umberto I is one of the most interesting shopping malls in Europe. Built from 1887 to 1890. Note: In the bookstore Feltrinelli on the first floor, there is a cafe from where you can enjoy the relaxed way what is happening in the passage. ;-)

Excursion to Pompeii

Escursione a Pompei

When in Naples, you should take the opportunity to visit Pompeii. You can reach the city, which was lost in 79 when Vesuvius erupted, by connections in direction Sorrento (from train station Naples Porta Nolana = very near to the Central Station). Trains run about every half hour. The breakpoint is Pompei ... dei Misteri. The journey to get there is about 45 minutes. The fare is about 3 EUR. The entrance fee is EUR 11 per adult person. One should definitely rent an audioguide (cost: 6,50 EUR), as on the site nearly no information boards exist. Everything is numbered and the information can only be obtained from the audio guide. At the time of our visit many areas were closed and therefore not open to visitors. I think this is normal, as the area is constantly at work.
