The museum was declared in 1979 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
There are several daily trips from Krakow, which contain the ride and the guide in a language of your choice to the museum. For these tours you will pay about EUR 25 to 30.
If you are planning the trip by yourself, you can save a lot of money. The best is to use the train from Krakow to Auschwitz (Oświęcim) with your rail pass or buy an extra ticket (EUR 3,50). From the station you can walk (15-20 minutes) by foot or take a taxi to the museum.
The museum tour if bought locally is EUR 10 (students EUR 8).
