Accommodation in Rome
Hotels and hostels in Rome (Italy). How and where to book the cheapest and best accommodation. Recommended by travellers.
ItalyPop Inn Hostel
Standard hostel just beside the main station Termini. Been there in February 2011, staff was not too nice, "free internet" is limited to some 30 minutes or so and only available in some coffee shop at the other end of town. Internet in the hostel is not free of charge! Breakfast is included but only consists of a brioche and a coffee in a nearby café (which is nice since you'll meet many locals). No kitchen. Supermarket across the street in the station. Many restaurants in the area. Clean.
Hostel Lodi
The Hostel Lodi is a very friendly hostel in Rome. It has a nice garden to relax and escape the sun. At least one Raildude already stayed here overnight and can recommend this hostel. Prices and more information (exact details), as well as photos, can be found on the booking page (right button).
Funny Palace Hostel
The Funny Palace Hostel in Rome is located close to the Roma Termini railway station. Friendly staff. At least one Raildude already stayed here overnight and can recommend this hostel. Prices and more information (exact details), as well as photos, can be found on the booking page (right button).
Hotel Des Artistes
Hotel Des Artistes - a very good and inexpensive place to stay in Rome. The hostel is just a 5-minute walk from Termini Station. The Hotel Des Artistes is both a 3 star hotel and a hostel. On one floor hostel rooms are offered. The hostel rooms even have a TV with foreign channels, the beds were made every day (which is actually not standard in a hostel). In addition, the reception is open 24 hours. The shared bathroom was always clean on my stay. Opposite is a bar where you can have breakfast for EUR 1,50: coffee and croissant. In the area around the hotel there are also some restaurants where you can eat inexpensive pizza and pasta.
Hotel Colosseum
We booked a hotel near the Rome Termini train station, which was a good idea. In Rome it is better to pay a bit more for the hotel, instead a lower price - but then living outside the city center. A central location is a good starting point for excursions. This is extremely important, because in Rome you can spend a lot of time in traffic. The Hotel Colosseum is located just five minutes walk from Roma Termini station. And the sights are within walking distance. The rooms are spread over seven floors. There is a very nice roof terrace. The rooms are very clean. Shower and toilet are separated. The towels are changed daily. There is a safe in the room. The TV offers international channels. Breakfast was also fine (cornetto, cake, fruit, boiled eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, cereal, yoghurt, bread, coffee, juice ...) No restaurant in the hotel - but a lot around it. Check out until 11:00. A luggage room is available.
