ItalyExtensive art collection.
Note: The entrance is not where it also goes to St. Peter Cathedral! The security checks at St. Peter's Square are only for St. Peter Cathedral. The entrance to the Vatican Museums is separately (at the side of the area).
The best is to avoid the weekend and Wednesday. Recommended is a visit on Tuesday or Thursday and then in the afternoon. We actually arrived on a Tuesday afternoon at 15:00 and we came in without having to queue.
Entrance fee: EUR 16 per adult.
Entrance possible up to 16:00h
Open until 18:00h
In my opinion it is just too much to see. You have pick what is interesting for you. The total amount of art treasures is impressive, but completely overloaded for a normal visit.
Especially noteworthy are the paintings by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel. There are greater crowds than already in the whole complex and you are pushed trough. It is not allowed to photograph here.
Person who have a problem with crowds, I would not suggest the visit.
By the way:
The visit to the Vatican Gardens is only possible by a guided tour (you have to check in advance, spontaneously there is nothing ...)
