The Italo is a high speed train operating by private company NTV on the Italian high speed network. Running at speeds of up to 300 km/h Italo trains connect the largest cities and are an interesting alternative to the Frecciarossa high speed trains of state operator Trenitalia.
Italo trains are operated by high speed trains ETR 575, capable of speeds of up to 360 km/h. All trains are air-conditioned, power sockets at each seat and WiFi. There are four different comfort classes available, called "ambiances":
- Smart: Comfortable reclining leather seats with four seats per row (2+2 seats). Most seats are arranged in rows, with only a few seats facing each other. Vending machines are available in coach 7, selling hot and cold drinks as well as small snacks. A cinema coach is available (coach 11) at no extra costs where different movies are shown on the information screens (audio available via headphones). All trains have facilites for the disabled.
- Comfort: Extra space thanks to wide, reclining leather seats with only three seats per row (2+1 seats) and extra legroom.
- Prima: The same comfortable seats as in Comfort, but with additional services. Welcome drinks and snacks are included and served at your seat. Vending machines are available in coach 3.
- Club Executive: Travel in comfort and style. Comfortable and wide reclining leather seats, arranged in three seats per row (2+1 seats). Additional private compartments for a maximum of four passengers each can be reserved if you prefer to travel in absolute privacy. Welcome drinks and snacks included.
