LithuaniaVilnius Cathedral
Vilniaus Šv. Stanislovo ir Šv. Vladislovo arkikatedra bazilika
The St. Stanislaus Cathedral is located north of the old town of Vilnius. It was completed in 1801 and owes its name to the holy Bishop Stanislaus of Krakow. Right next to the cathedral is a freestanding bell tower. The cathedral is located on a large square near the old town and near the Gediminas Castle and the Bernadine parks.
Gediminas' Tower
Gedimino pilis
The Gediminas Tower is located near the old town of Vilnius, close to the great cathedral square. The tower is located on a 141 meter high mountain and is the only preserved corner tower of the former Upper Castle of Vilnius. The tower is named after the Grand Duke Gediminas. An entrance fee is to pay to visit the interior of the tower and the observation deck. But you also get a great view of the city at the foot of the tower - for free. The walk up to the tower is of course free and takes about 5 minutes. Alternatively, there is also an elevator to get up to the tower.
