Eurail and EuroCity (EC). How to buy a reservation or can I travel for free. Train information, photos and videos.
Buy your train reservation at a railway station. These are usually available at stations in all countries where a particular train runs through. In many countries, especially in central and eastern Europe you can also buy reservations for trains in other countries. In some countries (for instance in the Netherlands or Spain) you have to pay a service fee at the ticket counter.
Eurocity trains are international express trains. They run from Copenhagen via the Rodby - Puttgarden ferry to Hamburg and from Aarhus via Padborg and Flensburg to Hamburg. Train are operated with IC3 trainsets of DSB (Danish Railways).
- comfortable seats in 2nd and 1st class
- four seats per row (2+2) in 2nd class, three seats per row (2+1) in 1st class, all in open-plan arrangement
- air-condition
- no bicycle transport
- no facilites for passengers with reduced mobility
During the summer season (June to September), a seat reservation is compulsory for international journeys!
