Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau
The concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest German concentration camps during the Nazi era. The name "Auschwitz" was a symbol of the Holocaust. Of the more than 5.6 million victims of the Holocaust were about 1.1 million people, including one million Jews murdered in Birkenau. The museum was declared in 1979 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. There are several daily trips from Krakow, which contain the ride and the guide in a language of your choice to the museum. For these tours you will pay about EUR 25 to 30. If you are planning the trip by yourself, you can save a lot of money. The best is to use the train from Krakow to Auschwitz (Oświęcim) with your rail pass or buy an extra ticket (EUR 3,50). From the station you can walk (15-20 minutes) by foot or take a taxi to the museum. The museum tour if bought locally is EUR 10 (students EUR 8). The times of the museum tours can be found at the link below. There is NO entrance fee for the museum - you only pay for the museum tour, which is are strongly recommended.
