Nice Places in Marseille

The Calanques in the French departement Bouches-du-Rhône are small, fjord-like bays with very clear water, where it can swim very well. The "Calanque du Port de Pomègues" is located on the "Ile de Pomègues", the southernmost island of the Frioul archipelago. After arriving by ferry on the "Ile de Ratonneau", cross the dam "Digue Berry" and follow the path shortly before the "Tour de Poméguet". Then turn left, after a few meters the Calanque is reached. Think on good footwear, food and sunscreen (on the island there is hardly any shade!).

The "Plage du Grand soufre" is a beautiful beach on the "Ile de Ratonneau". Follow, upon arrival by ferry, the way toward the dam "Digue Berry", then turn right there. After about 50 meters, the beach is reached. Despite easy access to the beach, it is less crowded and is great for relaxing.

Very nice park located west of the city with views of the sea, right on the "Corniche Kennedy". In the park there is the "Villa Valmer", a 1865 neo-Renaissance villa built in a rich oil and soap factory. Unfortunately, the villa can not be visited, but a visit to the park is worthwhile in any case. The "Parc Valmer" is distinguished by its lush, exotic flora. Nevertheless, there are also species of native trees, such as olive trees, strawberry trees and Aleppo pines. Tip: at the edge of the park there are two picnic tables with a great view of the sea! To get to the "Parc Valmer", the best is to use the bus 83 from the station "Vieux Port" and get off at "Parc Valmer".

The "Parc Balnéaire du Prado" is a great beach and leisure complex in the 8th arrondissement of Marseille. Here are six beaches, "Prado Plage Nord", "Prado Plage Sud", "Plage de l'Huveaune", "Plage Borély", "Plage de Bonneveine" and "Plage de la Vieille Chapelle". The beaches are equipped with showers, toilets, first aid, snacks and luggage storage facilities (from mid-June to early September). Behind the beaches are spacious green areas with playgrounds. Interesting: the gravel of the "Plages du Prado" comes from the shafts of the two metro lines! To get to the "Parc Balnéaire du Prado" use bus number 19 from the station "Castellane" and get off at "La Plage".

The "Cap Croisette" is considered the "Land's End" of Marseille. It is located in the south of Marseille, in the district of Les Goudes. To get to the "Cap Croisette", pass the restaurant "La Baie des Singes" and a diving center. After a few minutes the "Cap Croisette" is reached. Here the time seems to stand still, you only hear the sea and the wind, Enjoy a fantastic view of the Mediterranean sea!

The "Plage de la Pointe Rouge" is a large sandy beach in the south of Marseille. It has toilets, showers and a first aid post. Nearby are numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs. To get to the "Plage de la Pointe Rouge", use bus number 19 from the station "Castellane" and get off at "Tiboulen" or "Pointe Rouge".

The Parc du 26ème Centenaire is a very beautiful, 10-acre park in the middle of the city. It was created in 2001 on the former site of the Prado station. In the park 26 redwoods point on the 2600-year history of Marseille. The park has four themed gardens (Provencal, Middle Eastern, Asian and African), which should reflect the multiculturalism of the city.
